Voluntary Supplemental Benefits


Effective January 1, 2024

Voluntary Supplemental benefits (also sometimes called Worksite Benefits) are voluntary benefits that are meant to further support you and/or your family’s needs when certain events take place that may cause out of pocket expenses. Sana is pleased to offer three options: Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity. Please read below to learn more.

Accident Insurance

Accidents aren’t predictable and therefore are hard to budget for – with accident insurance, get help paying for out-of-pocket expenses medical insurance won’t cover. Coverage is available for your spouse and children and an extra 25% benefit is your child(ren) are injured playing organized sports. A benefit is paid directly to you and you choose how to spend it when you experience a covered accident such as:
  • Burns
  • Dislocations
  • Fractures
  • Major diagnostic exam
  • Hospital admission and confinement
  • Loss of sight or hearing
  • Accidental dismemberment
  • And more for a total of 70+ covered injuries and treatments

Critical Illness

If you or a family member are diagnosed with one of the covered illnesses below, critical illness will assist you with paying for copays, deductibles, and more. Children are covered automatically at 50% of your benefit at no extra cost. Select your benefit amount in $5,000 increments up to $20,000 for yourself and spouse.

100% coverage for:
  • Invasive cancer
  • End-stage kidney failure
  • Major organ transplant
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Coma
  • Paralysis
  • Loss of sight, hearing, or speech
  • Advanced Multiple Sclerosis
  • Advanced Parkinson's Disease
  • Advanced Alzheimer's Disease
  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
  • Benign brain tumor
  • Occupational hepatitis

25% coverage for:
  • Non-invasive cancer
  • Severe coronary artery disease with recommendation for bypass surgery

Plus additional covered conditions for children

Hospital Indemnity

Hospital trips are costly and not entirely covered by your medical insurance. Get paid a direct benefit in the event of a hospitalization and spend as you need, regardless of other coverage.
