Western Digital is committed to providing comprehensive benefits coverage for all. Here you will find a highlight of our benefits and services for our LGBTQ+ employees and their dependents. Our benefits are available to same-sex spouses and domestic partners.

Medical benefits:

  • Anthem*:
    • Gender affirming care for employees and their enrolled dependents including transgender surgery, hormone therapy, psychotherapy and vocal training
      • Any Gender affirming surgical procedures are subject to MCG (Milliman Care Guidelines) and require pre-certification
      • Some hormone therapies may require Pharmacy Prior Authorization
    • Please note that the Western Digital's medical plans do not currently offer a “Broad-based Travel benefit”. Their plans only include a Travel and Lodging benefit for Transplant-related Travel and Lodging and also for Bariatric Surgical Travel and Lodging. Therefore, Western Digital and Sandisk members traveling for Gender affirming care will not have Travel and Lodging coverage reimbursable by the medical plan.
  • Kaiser CA*:
    • Gender affirming care for employees and their enrolled dependents (e.g., transgender surgery, hormone therapy, psychotherapy, and vocal training).* 
    • Travel and lodging benefit is also included if your surgery center is away from home.
  • Kaiser HI*:
    • Gender affirming care for employees and their enrolled dependents (e.g., transgender surgery, hormone therapy, psychotherapy, and vocal training).
    • Travel and lodging benefit is also included if your surgery center is away from home.

Mental Health Support

  • Free and confidential services are offered through our EAP program. Services include individual counseling, family/relationship counseling, child counseling and more.

New Parent Leave:

  • 12 weeks offered to all new parents

*Services are covered if medically necessary and approved by PCP.
