Commuter Pre-Tax Benefit Plan (FSA)

The Commuter FSA allows employees to set aside up to $340 per month, on a pre-tax basis, to cover eligible commuting expenses. This includes:

  • Mass transit (such as ferry, bus, or train) for travel to and from work, and/or
  • Work-related parking expenses (such as daily or monthly parking fees, including park-and-ride).

An upfront, non-refundable administrative fee will be deducted from your paycheck upon enrollment. The fee is calculated at $2.40 multiplied by the number of months remaining in the plan year and applies whether you enroll in one or both plans.

You may enroll in the Commuter FSA at any time during the year. Once enrolled, contributions are deducted automatically from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis, reducing your taxable income.

The program is administered through Benepass. You will receive a benefits debit card that can be used to pay for eligible transit and parking expenses directly. If a provider does not accept debit card payments, you may pay out-of-pocket and submit a reimbursement request through your account.

If you are already enrolled in a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, your commuter benefits will be accessible using the same Benepass debit card.”
