Guardian Voluntary Accident and Critical Illness
Although we hope you never need it, we want to help you to be financially prepared to handle unexpected events such as accidents and critical illnesses. These plans are voluntary, 100% paid by the employee, and offer cash benefits to help cover expenses resulting from illness or accidents for yourself or your dependents.
Guardian Voluntary Accident Insurance
Guardian Voluntary Accident Insurance complements your existing medical coverage by helping to fill financial gaps caused by out-of-pocket expenses such as your deductible, copayments, and medical services not covered by your plan.
Accident insurance offers a cash benefit in the event you or your dependents (if enrolled) experience a “covered accident”. A covered accident is an event or occurrence that was not reasonably foreseeable, or could not have been reasonably expected, or anticipated. Examples include car accidents, a fall resulting in broken bones, or sports injury.
In the event of a covered accident, benefits are paid based on accident type, regardless of your medical insurance coverage. Payments are made directly to covered employees to spend as they choose.
Check the attached summary for a detailed list of reimbursement available based on type of accident.
Guardian Critical Illness Insurance:
Unexpected illnesses are not covered by the Accident policy above, you also have the option to purchase Critical Illness insurance for yourself and your dependents. This insurance pays you a cash benefit should you or your loved ones be diagnosed with a covered condition such as cancer, heart attack, or stroke. Payments are made directly to you and can be used for any purpose.
IMPORTANT: This is a fixed indemnity policy, NOT health insurance
This fixed indemnity policy may pay you a limited dollar amount if you're sick or hospitalized. You're still responsible for paying the cost of your care.
• The payment you get isn't based on the size of your medical bill.
• There might be a limit on how much this policy will pay each year.
• This policy isn't a substitute for comprehensive health insurance.
• Since this policy isn't health insurance, it doesn't have to include most Federal consumer protections that apply to health insurance.
