Vacation, Holiday, Sick and Bereavement Leave


Vacation
Full-time administrative employees accrue vacation hours on a per pay period basis according to the schedule below. Your accrual rate is based on your service as measured from your date of hire.

If you are a rehired employee, you will be given credit for prior service toward your vacation accrual rate as defined in the Employee Handbook.

Holidays
Full-time administrative employees are provided with 8 to 10 paid holidays in a calendar year. Part-time employees working 30 hours or more each week (20 hours in Hawaii) will receive a pro-rated amount of 6 hours of holiday pay for each company holiday which falls on a regularly scheduled workday. Holidays may vary in some regions, core holidays generally include:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day

  • Presidents’ Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Day after Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Day
Floating Holiday
We value diversity and recognize that employees may have different cultural or personally significant holidays they wish to observe.  Full time employees are granted one floating holiday per year.  Part-time employees working 30 hours or more each week (20 hours in Hawaii) will receive a pro-rated amount of 6 hours of floating holiday pay.  The floating holiday must be requested in advance and must be used to observe a qualified event, specifically a religious, cultural, or state/federal holiday during which Swinerton remains open for business. Floating holidays must be used in the calendar year in which they are granted.  An unused floating holiday will not carry over to the next year, nor may it be cashed out if unused or paid upon termination of employment.


Sick Leave
Swinerton provides administrative employees with paid sick leave. Eligible employees receive 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. The maximum amount of sick leave you may accrue is 112 hours, the equivalent of 14 8-hour days.

Bereavement Leave
Full-time administrative employees are provided with 5 days paid bereavement leave in the event of the death of an immediate family member as defined in the Employee Handbook. Part-time employees who work 30 hours or more per week are paid 6 hours per day.
