Are you looking for a way to stretch your wallet and make your commute less stressful? Our commuter benefit program can help you do both.

The commuter benefit program allows all employees commuting to work via public transit (bus, rail, or ferry) or vanpool to pay their fare with pre-tax dollars.

The pre-tax Commuter Benefit allows employees to exclude up to $340 per month ($4,080 per year) in transit or vanpool costs from their taxable income. This equates to a potential savings of $1,200+ per year in taxes, depending on your tax bracket and monthly fare.

To enroll in the commuter benefits program:

• Log into NetBenefits
• Navigate to Flexible Spending and Reimbursement Accounts
• Click on View Details

Commuter benefit enrollments and/or updates to existing elections must be completed by the 15th of the month to be effective on the first day of the following month. Enrollment can occur at any time and is not limited to a specific open enrollment period.

The Commuter Benefits Program is only available to employees who live and work within the Bay Area Air District’s geographic boundaries.
