Our Plan Year for health benefits runs January 1 – December 31. Active, regular employees, working a minimum of 20 hours per week, are eligible for coverage listed in this guide on the first day of employment. Eligible employees can enroll dependents in medical, dental, vision, Life/accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D), supplemental life insurance. Other voluntary programs are also available (some restrictions may apply).

Our financial protection programs are designed to cover you in the event of injury or death. Western Digital provides you basic life and AD&D (Accident) and disability insurance through MetLife at no cost. The cost of basic life insurance exceeding $50,000 is considered “imputed income” by the IRS. If you wish to avoid imputed income, you may waive coverage over $50,000. Supplemental life/AD&D insurance is available to you, your spouse and eligible dependent child(ren). Any amount above 2 times base salary or $1M in supplemental employee coverage requires underwriting approval. Amounts over $50,000 of spouse coverage require underwriting approval.

CRITICAL ILLNESS
Critical Illness insurance provides cash benefits to cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with a serious illness such as cancer, heart attack. This is a supplemental plan and doesn’t replace your medical coverage. Western Digital offers two plans; $10,000 or $20,000 benefit amount. Coverage for spouse and dependent children is available at 50% of employee’s initial benefits. Critical Illness plans exclude payments for diagnoses outside of the U.S.; unless the diagnosis is later confirmed in the U.S.
HOSPITAL INDEMNITY
Hospital Indemnity insurance helps keep your finances on track when you're in the hospital. Our medical health insurance covers many costs of your hospital stay and treatment. But you still have a lot of expenses such as deductibles, copays and other costs. If you are admitted to the hospital, with approval of your claim, MetLife will pay a lump sum cash directly to you to cover some of your expenses. The Hospital Indemnity plan has exclusions noting that MetLife will not pay for treatment/confinement outside of the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
ACCIDENT PLAN
Voluntary Accident insurance is offered through MetLife and provides cash benefits in case of covered accidental injuries. This plan does not replace your medical plan, it complements your health insurance. The Accident plan has exclusions noting that MetLife will not pay for treatment/confinement outside of the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for certain health care or day care expenses. There are two different plans
Health Care FSA: Employees may elect $100 to $3,200.
Dependent Day Care: Available to pay eligible day care for children under age 13 or elder care expenses. Employee may elect $100- $5,000 (per household).INTERNATIONAL SOS

401(K) RETIREMENT SAVINGS PLAN
Our 401(k) plan is a tax-effective way to help employees achieve and maintain a high level of financial well-being now and into retirement. The 401(k) plan is based on the calendar year.
401(K)Starting with your hire date as a regular or fixed-term employee, our 401(k) plan allows you to choose how to save and invest for retirement. You can make before-tax, after-tax and/or Roth after-tax contributions from your pay into a variety of investment options.
Automatic Enrollment: If you’re newly eligible to the plan and have not yet enrolled or waived participation within 30 days of your eligibility date, you will be automatically enrolled at a 6% before-tax deferral for your base salary and bonus.
Contributions: Pre-tax and Roth combined contributions up to 85% of pay, subject to annual IRS limits. After-tax contributions up to 10% of pay.
Vesting: You are automatically 100% vested in your contributions (pre-tax, Roth, and after-tax) made to your account, meaning you immediately own all contributions you make to the plan.
If you transfer to another country outside of the U.S. and are no longer on U.S. Payroll, you may keep your balance in the 401(k) plan, but you will not be able to make contributions to the plan. If you transfer back to the U.S. as an eligible employee, you may participate in the plan again.
EMPLOYEE STOCK PURCHASE PLAN (ESPP)
The ESPP allows eligible employees to contribute 1-10% of eligible compensation toward the purchase of the Company’s common stock at a discount through convenient payroll deduction. Offering periods begin twice per year (6/1 and 12/1) with Open Enrollment periods held in May and November. Each Offering Period is generally up to 24-months with purchases occurring every six months. Participants can purchase Company common stock at a 5% discount based on the lesser of the applicable enrollment price or the closing price on the respective purchase date.
TIME OFF
- Holidays - Public holidays vary depending on your host location. Should your host location provide for less than 11 holidays, you are eligible to take the difference as personal holidays.
- Vacation - Exempt (salaried) employees do not accrue vacation time and have the flexibility to take a reasonable amount of vacation each year as needed. There is no set minimum or maximum amount of vacation time, however, vacation should be planned around the needs of the business. All time requests must be coordinated with and approved by the employee’s immediate manager.
- Sick Time - Exempt employees are granted 40 hours of sick time annually and must be tracked for the first 40 hours.

EDUCATIONAL REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
After 90 days of employment, employees may participate in our Educational Reimbursement program that reimburses up to $5,250 per year for undergraduate, graduate, or non-degree courses completed with grade of “B” or better. Approval prior to the start of any coursework is required for this benefit.
